What is a poetry simple definition?  The answer  "poetry is the root of masses self-expression". Yes, I know 

what you heard and read.

Poetry is the art of rhythmic composition created by poets.

Imaginative and beautifully written or spoken. Higher Thought Words.

Therefore, we use techniques such as metaphors and rhymes. 

I thought of a known definition in my own way. Often said, it imagines pictures in the brain. It evokes a 

specific emotional response. And between the author and the reader share the feelings.

The writing effect is similar to prose though,  however, poetry has a large proportion of spoken words. 

Poetry has been art words form since ancient times. 

Oh. why?  

Let's answer that.

Poetry is words, masses self-expression is that begins from there.

Let's make a prediction from prehistoric archeology, where language first appeared. Early humans seem to have communicated through body language, simple vocalizations, and grunts etc.

Emotional expressions in words become actions, dancing and singing etc.

Some people explode with dissatisfaction, people sublimate. It can be changed. 

That's the self-expression that decides the rules of sports and other things and competition.

Standard self-expression is singing, drawing, playing sports etc.

Few people want to be professionals. Many people do it for fun.

Poetry is a form of self-expression that can be easily enjoyed, and there is no need to aim to become a poet.

However, poetry  will be "liberation of the soul, healing of the heart" more than any self-expression.

Metaphors,  rhymes, and rhythms are fun to learn through wordplay and letterplay.
